How to use this workbook
Set aside one quiet hour. Turn off notifications. The goal is not perfection — it is honest reflection. Work through the five steps in order. Write short, specific answers. The examples below are for a 30-year-old high-performer building a career while protecting a full life outside of work.
Capture the peaks and valleys of the year.
Distill what the year taught you.
Score each area of your life from 1 to 5.
Choose how you want to show up next year.
Turn intentions into trackable outcomes.
Break the year into four sprints.
Moments — the year in snapshots
List 6–10 moments that defined the year. Include wins, surprises, hard seasons, and small joys. The aim is to remember the texture of the year, not just the headline achievements.
Example
- Promoted to Senior Product Manager in March.
- Completed my first marathon in October (4:12).
- Two-week family trip to Japan — first time with parents in three years.
- Burned out in June after three back-to-back launches; took a real two-week break.
- Started a small hiking club with two friends; did four weekend treks together.
Reflections — what did the year teach you?
Now zoom out. The moments are data; the reflections are the meaning. Answer each prompt in one to three sentences.
Example
Example answer: “This year felt like a long-distance trail run — grueling climbs, a few breathtaking ridges, and moments I wanted to quit. I am removing the habit of checking email before bed and the guilt-driven ‘yes’ to every project. I am grateful for my marathon finish, my sister's weekly calls, the hiking club, a stable income, and two weeks offline in Japan.”
Eight Areas — score your life
Rate each area from 1 (neglected) to 5 (thriving). Be honest — a score is just a starting point. Then write one sentence on why you gave that score.
Example
Scoring eight areas on paper? It takes an hour — and one year later it's lost.
Rejuv Potion keeps every score, note and goal in one place, charts your trends, and emails you a nudge each month so the review actually happens.
Intentions — how do you want to show up?
Intentions are not goals. They are the way you want to move through the year. Pick 3–5 short intention statements. Start each with “I will…” or “I am…”.
Example
- I will protect my mornings for deep work and exercise before email.
- I will plan one adventure every quarter, even if it is short.
- I will be fully present in conversations — phone down, eyes up.
- I will treat rest as a performance tool, not a reward.
Goals — turn intentions into outcomes
For each intention, write one measurable outcome. Use the “by when, by what measure” format so you can track progress without ambiguity.
Example
Intention: Protect mornings for deep work and exercise.
Goal: Exercise 4 mornings per week and block 90 minutes of deep work before 11am, tracked monthly.
Intention: Plan one adventure every quarter.
Goal: Book one trip of 3+ days by end of each quarter: skiing in Feb, Japan in May, trekking in Aug, family week in Dec.
Intention: Be fully present in conversations.
Goal: Phone stays in another room during meals and friend calls; 0 exceptions per week.
Intention: Treat rest as a performance tool.
Goal: Take one full weekend off every month and one 7+ day break per quarter.
Quarterly plan — the first 90 days
A year is too long to manage all at once. Split the first quarter into three priorities. This keeps the plan alive after January motivation fades.
